Thanks a lot for the input, Danny. Since the original post, I've found a couple of more sources that confirm that Harnett Central opened in the fall of 1977, which would have made the Class of 78 their first graduating class. (See A Brief History of the Harnett Central High School Band.)

You are correct…the colors for AHS were purple and gold. The mascot was a bulldog. I graduated from Angier in 1976. The correction that needs to be made is that the schools consolidated in 1978. “1977 was the last year Angier was officially a high school

Just a correction. Angier High School consolidated with Lillington High School, Lafayette High School and Buies Creek High School into Harnett Central High School. GO TROJANS!!!!
